Newark Symphony Hall, at 1020 Broad St., hosts its annual Haunted Hall Family Halloween Experience on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the event listing published by The Local Girl. The listing describes trunk-or-treating, a Hall of Horrors, kids' activities, live DJs and performances, and a costume contest, plus light bites and beverages, with admission free with RSVP.

Earlier Saturday, the Newark Museum of Art, at 49 Washington St., holds a Fall Family Drop In from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., free with general admission, and runs planetarium shows over the weekend, according to the New Jersey weekend roundup published by NJToday News. The same roundup listed Portuguese fado singer Mariza at NJPAC's Prudential Hall on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., for families extending the weekend downtown.

Newark also arrived at Halloween with a statewide distinction: WalletHub's 2026 ranking of the best U.S. cities for Halloween placed Newark at No. 10 and Jersey City at No. 3, according to reporting published Oct. 28. The study weighed factors including walkability, costume shops, Halloween attractions and the number of potential trick-or-treat stops.

Families heading out Saturday evening in Newark will do so under clear skies, with the station's weather feed putting Saturday's high at 60 degrees and the low at 43.
