Newark Weather: Halloween Marks 14 Dry Days, With Rain Not Expected Until Thursday
North Jersey's driest stretch of 2026 runs through a sunny start to November in Newark, with the first showers in the National Weather Service forecast arriving Thursday, Nov. 5.

Halloween marked the 14th straight day without precipitation in North Jersey, the driest stretch so far in 2026, according to NorthJersey.com reporting published Saturday. The dry run follows a September nor'easter and the remnants of Hurricane Isaias that moved through New Jersey earlier in the fall.
For Newark, the National Weather Service forecast cited in that reporting shows no showers until Thursday, Nov. 5, with a 40 percent chance after 8 a.m. and a high of 72 degrees. Nov. 5 and 6 carry a 40 to 50 percent chance of showers during the day and night, with temperatures in the upper 60s.
The station's own live weather feed from Open-Meteo tells the same near-term story: Saturday clear with a high of 62 and a low of 43, Sunday overcast at 62, Monday overcast at 66, and Tuesday and Wednesday reaching 68, before drizzle and rain chances build late in the week.
The dry stretch is not yet a drought emergency. State Climatologist John Krasting told NorthJersey.com the state is still in decent shape from a drought perspective given the rain that fell over the summer and in September, and NJDEP data as of Oct. 28 put New Jersey reservoirs just under 90 percent full, according to the reporting.
