An Essex County jury found Antwine King, 35, of Newark, guilty of first-degree murder and weapons offenses in the Oct. 22, 2023, shooting of Vincent Anderson, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced.

A jury has convicted Antwine King, 35, of Newark, of first-degree murder and related weapons offenses in the 2023 fatal shooting of a 60-year-old man on a Newark street, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II announced in a release republished Oct. 26 and read in full this cycle.
On Oct. 20, 2026, after three days of deliberations, the jury found King guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose in the fatal shooting of Vincent Anderson of Newark, according to the prosecutor's office. The case was tried by Assistant Prosecutors Logan Teisch and Melanie Laprade before Superior Court Judge Michael L. Ravin.
Prosecutors proved that on Oct. 22, 2023, King argued with Anderson at the intersection of Clinton Place and Renner Avenue in Newark, shot him once in the back, killing him, and fled on foot, according to the release. Six days later, King was apprehended in Laredo, Texas, by the U.S. Marshals.
King is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 5, 2027, and faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life in prison, the prosecutor's office said. The office encourages anyone with information about criminal activity to call its confidential tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC.
