Free Hypertension and Preeclampsia Support Program Starts Wednesday in East Orange, With a Blood Pressure Cuff to Take Home
A free hypertension and preeclampsia prevention and support program with the Perinatal Health Equity Initiative starts November 4 in East Orange, meeting Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. through November 25 — and attendees receive a blood pressure cuff to track their numbers at home.

Essex County residents can join a free program this month aimed at two conditions that hit pregnant people and new parents hardest. A free hypertension and preeclampsia prevention and support program is planned with the Perinatal Health Equity Initiative starting November 4, according to the Jersey Bee's Essex County listings.
The program meets Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 280 South Harrison Street, Suite 401, in East Orange, and runs through November 25. Attendees will receive a blood pressure cuff to track their numbers at home, the listings say, and registration is available online.
Hypertension and preeclampsia are blood-pressure conditions that can become dangerous quickly, which is why the program pairs its weekly sessions with the take-home cuff: participants can keep watching their own numbers between meetings instead of waiting for the next appointment.
