Needle Drop Records Opens Nov. 7 in Verona, Built on an 18-Year Personal Vinyl Collection
A new independent record store, Needle Drop Records, holds its grand opening Saturday, Nov. 7 at noon at 660 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, stocked in part from founder Brian Russell's own collection of roughly 1,500 records.

Needle Drop Records, a new independent record store, is set to open at 660 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, on the corner of Bloomfield and Grove Avenues, with a grand opening set for Saturday, Nov. 7 at noon, The Montclair Girl reported.
The store was founded by Verona resident Brian Russell, who spent most of his working life in the wine and spirits industry while collecting records for 18 years, according to the report. His personal collection of roughly 1,500 records, ranging from classics to rare finds, serves as the foundation for the shop.
The store will carry records of all types and genres, including creative pressings with color, swirl and splatter designs, used records and collectible items, alongside present-day top-selling artists, according to the report. In addition to vinyl, the shop will sell merchandise, music books and record players.
Russell told the publication he has been a music fan since childhood, when his father brought home cassette tapes from the city, and described record collecting as a hobby where a shopper can always leave with something to take home. The store's updates are posted on its Instagram account, @needledroprecordsveronanj, according to the report.
