Essex County's civic calendar fills up this week, according to The Jersey Bee's Essex County Daily Buzz, read in full by this desk on Monday. In South Orange, residents can meet with council members on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Baird Cafe, 5 Mead Street, to ask questions and share ideas, according to the listing.
In Irvington, the public library will hold registration for its literacy and career readiness program for youth ages 10 to 14 on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5-6, from 12 to 5 p.m., according to the Buzz, with a pizza giveaway from 12 to 1 p.m. on registration days.
And on Saturday, Nov. 7, Glen Ridge library presents 'Music, Magic, and Puppets,' an interactive program for families beginning at 10:30 a.m., according to the listing. Children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required.
Taken together, the three listings are the county's week in miniature: a village government making itself available face to face, a city library recruiting its next class of young readers, and a borough library putting on a Saturday-morning show for its youngest residents — all within a few miles of each other in Essex County.
