SWID Perfumery to Open Its Second Studio at 165 Ferry Street in Newark's Ironbound in Late November (Newark Brick City News)

SWID Perfumery, a custom perfume studio based in Paterson, plans to open its second location at 165 Ferry Street in Newark's Ironbound district in late November, the company announced on Oct. 28. The expansion follows the March 2026 opening of its Paterson studio, where staff have blended more than 5,000 custom fragrances, according to the company's sales records.

At the studio, customers work one-on-one with a trained blender to create a personal fragrance from a library of more than 300 fragrance oils, smelling a small tester before the full bottle is made, the company said. Each bottle can be engraved with a name or short phrase, and a typical visit takes 20 to 30 minutes, including engraving, with walk-ins welcome and no appointment required for individual visits.

The Newark studio will offer the same custom blending, engraving and full fragrance library as Paterson, along with more space for private events, and staff will serve customers in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, the company said. SWID said it plans to hire locally for the new studio. The company also hosts private perfume-making events for groups of up to 24 guests and introduced a mobile perfume bar in October.

Founder and owner Adam Swid said many of the Paterson studio's customers already travel 25 miles or more to reach it, and that the Newark studio brings the experience closer to them. The original studio at 953 Main Street in Paterson will remain open, and updates on the Newark opening will be posted on the company's website.
