Essex County students and families get three shots at college help this week: a scholarship and financial-aid workshop at Belleville Public Library on Monday evening, a FAFSA workshop at Rutgers-Newark on Thursday, and the Laptops 4 Learning fundraiser with Essex County College the same night.
The week starts in Belleville. A college scholarship workshop is planned at Belleville Public Library on Monday, November 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m., according to the Jersey Bee's Essex County event listings. The session will discuss financial aid resources, and registration is not required.
Thursday brings application help in Newark. A FAFSA workshop is planned at Rutgers-Newark on Thursday, November 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., with application assistance, financial aid experts and childcare for children ages 5 and older, according to the same listings. Registration for the workshop was required by October 30, so it is aimed at families who signed up ahead of time.
Thursday evening also raises money for the hardware students need. The Laptops 4 Learning fundraiser, planned with Essex County College on November 5 in Newark, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Smith Hall Art Gallery. Tickets are $50, and proceeds will be used to purchase new laptops for students, according to the listings.
