Turtle Back Zoo Switches to Winter Hours Monday: 10 A.M. to 3 P.M., With Mini Camps This Week
Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange shortens its day starting Monday, November 2, moving to daily hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The zoo's events calendar also lists Zoo Mini Camp sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for children ages 5 to 10.
Families planning a trip to Essex County Turtle Back Zoo should plan a shorter day starting this week. The zoo's official events page announces updated daily hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, November 2, at the zoo in the South Mountain Recreation Complex, 560 Northfield Avenue in West Orange.
The shorter winter day still leaves room for the zoo's school-year programming. The same official calendar lists Zoo Mini Camp sessions on Tuesday, November 3, Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6, each running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for children ages 5 to 10, at $100 per day. Campers should bring their own snack and lunch, the zoo says, and the camp is based at the Berson Family Center on Northfield Avenue.
The zoo's calendar continues through the month with a Sloth Social on November 7 and a Stroller Safari for children ages 1 to 4 with a caregiver on November 11. The zoo can be reached at 973-731-5800 for event and booking information.
