Newark Traffic Tonight: Lane Closures on the Hudson Extension, the Parkway in Irvington and Bloomfield, and I-280 in West Orange
Drivers heading out of Newark tonight face a right-lane closure on the Turnpike's Hudson County Extension until 5:45 a.m., overnight construction on the Garden State Parkway through Irvington and Bloomfield, and lane closures on I-280 in West Orange and Route 7 in Belleville, the 511NJ feed showed Monday evening.

The Turnpike's Hudson County Extension eastbound, west of the Newark Bay Bridge toward Interchange 14B, has one right lane closed until 5:45 a.m. Tuesday for overnight work, according to the NJDOT 511NJ all-events feed read Monday evening. The long-running Port Street truck restriction in Newark — between Brewster Road and Marlin Road, with one left lane closed and an 11-foot width restriction in place since Aug. 3 — also remains in effect.
On the Garden State Parkway, southbound construction between Exit 144 and Exit 143A in Irvington runs from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with barrier repairs following from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and northbound construction through Bloomfield runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the feed showed. On I-280 eastbound at Exit 7 in West Orange, lane closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and on Route 7 southbound at Rutgers Street in Belleville, work runs from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Downtown, the Prudential Center hosts the Seton Hall men's basketball opener against Saint Peter's on Monday night, with event traffic in the area until about 10:30 p.m. Eastern, according to the feed's event listing.
None of tonight's Newark and Essex County entries is a crash closure: the 511NJ active-incidents feed read Monday evening listed no new crash or full closure inside Newark or Essex County, only the scheduled overnight work above and the long-running Port Street restriction.
