Three Newark Bus Routes Detour Wednesday as Elizabeth Avenue Closes for a Food Drive
NJ Transit bus routes 59, 65 and 66 will detour in Newark on Wednesday, November 4, while Elizabeth Avenue is closed between Watson Avenue and Lehigh Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a food drive, the agency says.
Three NJ Transit bus routes will run on detours in Newark on Wednesday because of a street closure for a food drive. Effective Wednesday, November 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Elizabeth Avenue will be closed between Watson Avenue and Lehigh Avenue due to a food drive, NJ Transit says.
During those five hours, NJ Transit Bus Route Nos. 59, 65 and 66 in Newark will operate on a detour, according to the agency's published bus advisories. Riders on those routes should expect their trips through the Elizabeth Avenue corridor to follow the detour while the closure is in place.
The closure is a planned, daytime event rather than an emergency: the avenue reopens at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and the detour ends with it. Drivers who use Elizabeth Avenue between Watson and Lehigh on Wednesday morning will also need another route during the same window.
