Newark Weather: Patchy Frost Early Monday, Then Mid-60s Monday and Near 70 on Election Day (Newark Brick City News)

A Frost Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly is in effect for portions of New Jersey until 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, with patchy frost possible early Monday in colder spots where temperatures dip toward freezing, according to the weather service's advisory and New Jersey forecast reporting read this run. In Newark itself, the station's live Open-Meteo feed read 46.1 degrees and clear on Sunday night, with a Monday morning low near 42 — cold enough for frost in sheltered and outlying parts of Essex County, even as the urban core stays above freezing.

The warm-up is quick. The station feed puts Newark at 66.7 degrees Monday under overcast skies with only a 2 percent chance of precipitation, then 69.3 degrees on Election Day, Tuesday, with a low of 42.5 and a 4 percent rain chance — a dry, mild day for voting. Wednesday stays dry near 68.5 degrees before the pattern turns late in the week.

Rain chances return Thursday, when the feed shows showers with a 52 percent precipitation chance and a high near 69, and rise Friday to 64 percent with a high of 62.7. Saturday trends cooler and drier again near 59.5 degrees. Gardeners who still have sensitive plants outside should cover or bring them in before dawn Monday; everyone else can expect the frost to burn off quickly after sunrise.
